Croydon Concerto Competition

After a fabulous concert on 22nd June 2019, with wonderful playing by all the finalists, the winner of the 2019 Croydon Concerto was named as Ionel Manciu (violin).

Update June 2022, we have recently heard that Ionel has just been appointed as first concertmaster of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. Many congratulations to Ionel.

The CSO holds the Croydon Concerto Competition biennially (however the next competition will be in 2023 due to Covid 19). We aim to support and showcase young soloists through this event. Former winners of previous competitions include Michael Foyle, Peter Foggitt, Jamal Aliyev, Diana Brekalo, Madalina Rusu, Daniel de Borah and Emma Halnan.

The winner receives £1,000 of engagements: including concerto performances with the Croydon Symphony Orchestra, Guildford Symphony Orchestra and Epsom Symphony Orchestra.
