Croydon Concerto Competition 2017

One of the aims of the Society is to support and nurture young talent and we are delighted to be running this competition once more in 2017.

The first round and semi-final of the 2017 competition took place at the National Opera Studio in February 2017.
Almost fifty musicians entered and the standard of the performances was incredibly high.
Five talented, young musicians were chosen to go through to the final.

The five finalists who will all performed a concerto movement at the CSO concert on 10th June 2017 were:

Artur Haftman – Piano
Emma Halnan – Flute
Francisco Vilar –Piano
Johanna Röhrig – Violin
Ariel Lanyi – Piano

The winner of our 2017 competition is Emma Halnan – Flute.

Many congratulations for a stunning performance which received an unanimous vote from the orchestra, audience and judges.

Emma wins £1,000 of engagements: including concerto performances with the Croydon Symphony Orchestra, Guildford Symphony Orchestra and Epsom Symphony Orchestra.

We look forward to working with her and some of the other finalists again next season.
