The first-round auditions and semi-finals of the 2023 competition will be held at the National Opera Studios, The Clore Building, 2 Chapel Yard, Wandsworth, London, SW18 4HZ all day on Sunday 19th February, 2023 from 9am to 8pm.
The final concert performances will take place at The Millenium Centre, Woldingham School, CR3 7LR on Saturday 25th March, 2023 at 7.30pm with a rehearsal earlier in the afternoon. The finalists will be accompanied in their concerto movement by the Croydon Symphony Orchestra conducted by Darrell Davison. The 2023 Croydon Concerto Competition winner will be announced at the end of this concert.
The winner receives £2,000 of engagements: including concerto performances with the Croydon Symphony Orchestra, Guildford Symphony Orchestra and Epsom Symphony Orchestra.
Update June 2022, we have recently heard that violinist Ionel Manciu (winner of the 2019 CCC) has just been appointed as first concertmaster of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. Many congratulations to Ionel.
The CSO holds the Croydon Concerto Competition biennially (however the next competition will be in 2023 due to Covid 19). We aim to support and showcase young soloists through this event. Former winners of previous competitions include Michael Foyle, Peter Foggitt, Jamal Aliyev, Diana Brekalo, Madalina Rusu, Daniel de Borah and Emma Halnan.
